mulGIR2.AN.NA (𒀯𒄈𒀭𒈾) is a name for the asterism best known as mulgir2.tab = zuqaqīpu, 'The Scorpion' (Scorpio) in Ancient Mesopotamia. The most common meaning of Sumerian GIR2 is that of a sharp implement, 'knife, dagger, sword,' but the lexical tradition also gives GIR2 on its own as an abbreviation of Sumerian gir2.tab = zuqaqīpu allowing for two alternative understandings of the name: 'Sword of Heaven,' and 'Scorpion of Heaven.'
